Ayinde Russell, Program Director
As a motivational speaker, facilitator and artist, Ayinde Russell has inspired and educated thousands of youth and adults at conferences, events and schools around the country and the world. He is an award-winning slam poet and has performed internationally as a vocalist and musician.
Ayinde joined the staff of A Promising Future in 2003 as program manager. In 2016, he became program director. This promotion mirrors the significant growth of the organization itself, and its many facets benefiting from Ayinde’s skilled leadership and oversight. His role also includes responsibility for programming that serves clients of Alternatives Pregnancy Center.
In his work with A Promising Future, Ayinde connects with school districts, government agencies, nonprofits, churches and other organizations across Colorado to provide relevant training and presentations that strengthen the resources and assets of youth.
He holds a Master of Divinity degree in pastoral counseling from Denver Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from Colorado State University.
Lori Arfsten, Site Coordinator
Lori Arfsten brings more than 30 years of experience helping children, youth and adults develop their desire to be healthy in mind, body and spirit.
She has served as a health and wellness director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, a curriculum development provider for the YMCA of the USA, a substitute classroom teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools, a board member and client advocate for Alternatives Pregnancy Center in Denver and a weekly Sunday school leader at her church.
In 2009 Lori joined the staff of A Promising Future as a community educator. Then in 2012 she became the site coordinator, responsible to cultivate community partnerships with other youth-serving organizations in the Denver area and beyond.
She also co-facilitates instructor training workshops with our custom curriculum, The Diamond Standard. She enjoys speaking to youth and parent audiences.
Lori graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. She has been married to Greg for more than 25 years and they have three emerging adult children.
